HOW IT WORKS:
In the past, usual remedies for hair removal have included plucking, shaving, waxing, chemical depilatories and electrolysis. Some are painful, some are messy, and most are only temporary.
The laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light that is well absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. When the laser pulses and vaporizes the hair pigment, multiple follicles are permanently destroyed.
The Palomar Starlux® Laser has a special cooling hand-piece which is perfect for areas of sensitive skin. This keeps all layers of the skin's surface cool and protected while the energy goes to the hair root. This effective system allows safe treatment for all skin colors.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
The length of the treatment depends on the size of the treated area. It could range from 10 minutes to one hour. The laser treats only the follicles that are in active growth. That is why more than one treatment is necessary. Topical anesthetic is available for more sensitive areas. People may return to normal activities immediately following a session. Slight temporary redness is a possibility, but is quite rare.
